NHS Treatments
At Craigmillar Dental Centre, we’re committed to providing treatments on the NHS.
In Scotland, a dental examination is free of charge to everyone. Following your free examination, one of our friendly dentists will advise you on any treatment that you require. All prices for NHS treatments are fixed by the Scottish Government – so you’ll always know exactly what you’re paying for.
Some NHS patients are entitled to free treatment, and others are required to pay 80% of the treatment cost (including any x-rays), up to a maximum of £384.
Who is entitled to free NHS treatment?
NHS treatments are free to everyone in Scotland aged under 26, those who are pregnant or have given birth in the last 12 months, and anyone in receipt of benefits such as income-related Employment Support Allowance and Jobseekers Allowance. If you are eligible for free treatment based on benefits, please ensure to bring evidence with you.
Are all treatments available on the NHS?
Not all treatments are available on the NHS. For example, cosmetic treatments such as white fillings on your back teeth, or tooth coloured crowns on your back teeth, would not be covered.
Your dentist will be happy to advise you of your options, available on both the NHS and privately, and will align your treatment plan with your decision.
