Posterior White Crown

Crowns are normally advised on teeth that are badly damaged, unsightly or heavily filled. The tooth in question is prepared and a porcelain crown with a metal base is made. The crown is then fixed in place with special cements. The process normally takes two appointments. To give a more natural look to the tooth, an all ceramic crown may be used instead.
White crowns on posterior teeth are unfortunately not covered on the NHS, but are available at Craigmillar Dental Centre on a private basis.
