Implant Retained Denture

A number of implants may be used to secure a denture. This is normally two for a lower denture and four for an upper denture. A hole is made in the jaw bone for each implant. The implants are placed, healing caps fitted and gum replaced to allow the bone to recover.
The healing process takes about 6 months, after which time the implants are exposed and attachments fitted to them. Corresponding attachments on the dentures ensure that the dentures are kept securely in place.
